Nigel was educated at Stokesley School, Stokesley, North Yorkshire and read Law at Nottingham University before completing the LSF at York College of Law.
In 1992 Nigel Joined Dickinson Dees as an Articled Clerk, qualifying in 1994 and becoming a Partner in 2002. Nigel remains at the firm which is now Womble Bond Dickinson following its transatlantic combination in 2017. Nigel is a Real Estate lawyer and heads WBD's National Housing Team with a particular specialism in the Private Rented Sector.
At the start of the pandemic Nigel became the Head of WBD's Newcastle office, the largest office of WBD consisting of 420 people. As part of that role Nigel has led the office's relocation to a brand new office of 37,500 square feet on the Helix, Newcastle's Innovation Quarter.
Nigel has recently finished a 9 year term on the board of Byker Community Trust, the social housing organisation which runs the Byker Housing Estate. He is also a board member of Urban Green, the innovative charity which operates Newcastle's parks and allotments. In the property world Nigel is a member of the British Property Federation's Regional Policy Committee, and is on the Strategic Advisory Group of the UKAA, the trade body for the Build To Rent Sector. Finally, Nigel chairs the North East England Chamber of Commerce's Partner Group.
Outside work Nigel is a season ticket holder at Middlesbrough FC and enjoys rugby coaching, golf, snowboarding and has competed 12 Great North Runs!
