We are delighted to announce that Denovo Business Intelligence is a proud new sponsor of Newcastle Upon Tyne Law Society. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to supporting the legal community, and we are excited to bring valuable insights about legal technology to members throughout 2025 and beyond. By collaborating with Denovo, we aim to empower our members with thought leadership content, insightful and educational webinars, and engaging experiences at Society events. Together, we look forward to driving innovation and efficiency within the legal profession.

Denovo has experienced remarkable growth in recent years, with hundreds of law firms turning to the Glasgow-based software provider to help them streamline operations and improve efficiency. As part of our sponsorship, we sat down with Steven Hill, Denovo’s Managing Director and accredited Legal Technologist, to learn more about the company and its plans to support Newcastle Law Society members. With two decades of experience in supporting law firms' operations with cutting-edge legal technology, Steven offers a wealth of expertise that promises to benefit all our members.

In the following interview, Steven shares insights on how Denovo’s solutions are transforming law firms' approach to technology and how they can help our members achieve greater efficiency and productivity. We are excited for the opportunity to collaborate with Denovo and look forward to the future of legal tech within our Society.

Who are Denovo? That’s actually quite a common question we get in England and is one of the main reasons we want to introduce our brand to a new audience. In short, Denovo Business Intelligence is a legal software company dedicated to making lawyers' lives easier.

Our founder, George Blair, set out to achieve this goal over 40 years ago. Starting in the early 1980s, the company provided legal accounting machines, printers, and personal computers to law firms and other businesses. By the early 2000s, we expanded into software solutions exclusively built for law firms and transitioned to full cloud-based solutions from around 2011. Today, we believe we offer the most customisable legal case management and accounts software platform in the market, developed entirely in the UK.

Our flagship product, CaseLoad, launched in 2019, with the purpose of eliminating repetitive administrative tasks associated with legal work. By automating processes and managing practices efficiently, we help lawyers spend more time with clients, enhance productivity, reallocate their time away from mundane administrative tasks and reclaim valuable personal time. CaseLoad is now the operating system for hundreds of law firms across the country, built through listening, working, and innovating alongside our partners.

Why have many English law firms not heard of Denovo? For much of our history, we’ve primarily served Scottish law firms. Based in Glasgow, our growth has largely been through referrals, limiting our reach into England. However, the success of CaseLoad has allowed us to grow rapidly and extend our reach across the UK. Encouraged by our English clients, we’re now introducing ourselves more broadly to the English market, and Newcastle Law Society’s members are an integral part of that journey.

What’s different about Denovo? Our software is solicitor-led. We collaborate with solicitors to design innovative solutions tailored to their specific needs. Through these partnerships, we’ve created a platform that is dynamic, fully customisable, and constantly evolving.

Clients tell us our key differentiator is how we listen and act on feedback. Unlike other providers, our team handles all aspects of development, implementation, training, and support, ensuring a personalised and consistent experience. This hands-on approach has earned us the trust of thousands of solicitors and made us the software provider of choice for firms seeking reliable and adaptable solutions.

How does Denovo plan to support Newcastle Law Society members? As part of our sponsorship, we’re excited to deliver thought leadership content and host insightful, educational webinars tailored to the challenges and opportunities facing the legal profession. We’re also looking forward to connecting with members at Society events, providing opportunities for hands-on demonstrations of our software, and discussing how legal technology can transform their practices.

What exciting developments can Newcastle Law Society members expect from Denovo’s technology roadmap in 2025 and beyond? At Denovo, we’re always looking ahead to ensure our CaseLoad platform meets the evolving needs of law firms. For 2025, we’re focused on several key advancements to help firms streamline operations, tackle administrative overload, and navigate complex regulatory demands.

First, we’re transitioning our Accounts module into our CaseLoad environment. This shift will simplify workflows, improve reporting, and integrate accounting seamlessly into the platform.

We’re also enhancing automation tools, client intake processes, KPI dashboards, AML compliance features, and property search integrations to provide a more cutting-edge experience. Alongside this, we’re introducing more robust Making Tax Digital (MTD) functionality, which will simplify tax reporting and compliance.

Our upgraded Estate Agency Module will offer tools like enquiry matching, viewing management, portal integrations, and advanced CRM features to revolutionise property transaction management.

On the user experience front, we’re continually refining CaseLoad to be even more intuitive and visually appealing, with greater customisation options. Additionally, our Microsoft Graph integration will enable deeper collaboration across Microsoft applications, enhancing teamwork within firms.

Lastly, we’re delving into emerging technologies such as advanced data analytics, and machine learning. These innovations will help firms work more efficiently and stay ahead of market demands.

In short, 2025 promises exciting progress that will make CaseLoad an even more indispensable tool for law firms. We’re thrilled to share these developments with Newcastle Law Society members.
