Each year our President chooses a local charity to benefit from fundraising efforts during their year in office.  Our current President, Elspeth Thomson, chose the West End Women and Girls Centre on Elswick Road and she was very pleased to call in on 1st February 2023 to present the centre volunteers with a cheque to put towards their excellent work

The West End Women and Girls Centre is the first and only open access, community based women and girls centre in Newcastle.  They aim to build the power of women and girls, who have been and continue to be disenfranchised and to drive positive change.

They do this through group work where women and girls have the opportunity to meet, have fun, learn skills, look at issues relevant their lives and generally build confidence in a safe and supportive environment.

The Centre celebrated its 40th Anniversary in 2022.  They offer a number of diverse activities such as cycling, gardening, farming and cookery.
