NEWLY QUALIFIED SOLICITORS

Newly qualified Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, Training Partners and members of the JLD - it is always a great pleasure at the Annual Law Dinner to celebrate the achievements of our Trainee Solicitors when they qualify into the profession. All newly qualified Solicitors are invited to join the President at the V.I.P reception drinks and receive a certificate presented to them by the President of Newcastle Law Society, Nigel Emmerson.

Please inform us of all Solicitors who have qualified since 1st of July 2023.

NEWCASTLE PRIZE FOR LPC & SQE STUDENTS

This Prize has been in existence since 1922 and has recently been awarded to the candidate who has gained a distinction and the highest overall mark from the entries received on any LPC course and then entered into a training contract for a firm in our area. Due to the LPC being superseded by the SQE we are, for the first time, going to offer two Newcastle Prizes to reward the highest achieving LPC and SQE students.

  1. Nominations can be received for candidates who have completed their LPC in 2023 or earlier and entered into a training contract between the 1st of July 2023 and the 30th June 2024 with a firm of Solicitors practising in the area of the Newcastle Law Society constituency.
  1. Nominations can be received for candidates who have completed their SQE 2 in the summer of 2023 or earlier and entered into Qualifying Work Experience or qualified as a Solicitor with a firm of Solicitors practicing in the area of the Newcastle Law Society constituency between the 1st of July 2023 and the 30th June 2024.

Please send nominations by email with confirmation of a candidates LPC or SQE mark together with a short summary (no more than 250 words of why this individual should receive this award). Prize winners receive a financial reward, trophy and certificate presented to them by the Lord-Lieutenant of Tyne & Wear.

UNIVERSITY OF NORTHUMBRIA – MLaw Exempting Degree Prize

This is awarded to the best student (with first class honours) on the above degree course, who subsequently goes on to obtain a training contract in the Society's area.  We are looking for candidates who completed their degree in Summer 2023. 

Please submit your application by email. We require official confirmation of your marks from years 2, 3 and 4 of the courses. The prize winner will receive a financial reward, trophy and certificate presented to them by the Lord-Lieutenant of Tyne & Wear.

UNIVERSITY OF NEWCASTLE LAW SCHOOL PRIZES

Newcastle Law School will once again be awarding students who have demonstrated high academic achievements with annual awards that are presented by Newcastle Law Society at the Law Dinner. The awards are given to those students who have given the best performance in:-

  • Criminal Law
  • Equity or Trust
  • Company Law

 UNIVERSITY OF LAW - Campus Champion Award

For the first year, we are delighted to be able to partner with The University of Law to present this special Award.

The Campus Champion Award will be presented to the student who has captured the essence of enthusiasm, who has shown dedication throughout the degree, and who has had the most positive impact on the campus community.

The prize winner will receive a financial reward, trophy and certificate presented to them by the Lord-Lieutenant of Tyne & Wear.
