Newcastle Legal Walk
The Legal Walk is a 10k sponsored walk around Newcastle City Centre to raise funds for the Access to Justice Foundation, supporting the provision of advice to people, places and communities that are most in need.
As you may be aware, the delivery of the Walk has changed slightly this year, so that it is now being arranged by local organisations in the legal sector with the support of the Newcastle Law Society – rather than the Access to Justice Foundation directly.
The LegalWalk will take place on 4 July 2024 and will be setting off from the Law Courts on Newcastle Quayside at 5.45pm. Participants should congregate in the area outside of the Courts from 5pm - where there will be a short opening speech/group photo and then set off on the walk.
The route has changed this year to ensure that it is more central/accessible than in previous years and avoids bottlenecks and the opportunity for the group to become split up. We will have a number of volunteers dispersed throughout the crowd to ensure that everyone knows where to go. The route is attached and walkers will, hopefully, be able to access a live version of the route whilst taking part in the walk. We will be able to supply more details about a live version of the route closer to the day itself.
The end destination will be The Cluny in Ouseburn which has been booked from 7.30pm, all participants will get a token to allow them to get a free drink. The organising Committee would be very grateful if any of the participating organisations would consider sponsoring the post-walk drinks reception.
The Foundation have created a single Newcastle Legal Walk 2024 page - which you will be able to share with your friends, family and colleagues. The link to the JustGiving page is: The Newcastle Legal Sector is fundraising for The Access to Justice Foundation.
In order to keep track of the number of participants, it would be extremely helpful if you could complete the registration form by following the link below - which asks you to provide the number of people you expect to attend the Walk from your organisation.
Thank you for your support and if you have any questions, please feel free to email the organiser, Ben Thompson, or Newcastle Law Society.
