Amiqus - Money Laundering & Compliance Dinner
Members of Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society who are money Laundering Reporting Officers or Compliance Officers for Legal Practice are invited to be our guests at the second in the series of Compliance Dinners hosted by our sponsors Amiqus. The Dinner is on the evening of Thursday 27th of February 2025 at Hibou Blanc, High Bridge Street, Newcastle, NE11EN from 6.30pm – 9.30pm.
The evening will be hosted under Chatham House rules, providing a relaxed opportunity for discussion, sharing of experiences and debate among peers within the legal sector’s MLROs & Compliance community. One of the Amiqus hosts is Graham MacKenzie, Director of AML & Economic Crime Risk who has recently joined Amiqus from his former position as Head of AML at the Law Society of Scotland, the AML supervisor for Scottish Solicitors.
Across his 8 years at the Society, Graham was a member of the Legal Sector Affinity Group (LSAG) and chaired the group responsible for the extensive 2020 rewrite of the LSAG Guidance, the Treasury Approved AML guidance for the legal sector. Graham also authored extensive parts of the guidance in conjunction with colleagues at the SRA and the Law Society of England & Wales, and, as chair of the UK AML Supervisor’s forum, worked extensively with Government, law enforcement and other agencies in regards to UK-wide legal sector AML issues and risks.
Members of any size of firm are welcome to join. We have a limit of 16 guests. If you would like to attend, please email us on mail@newcastlelawsociety.co.uk
